The start of the new year is a great time to review your shipping strategy in order to make sure your e-commerce business isn’t paying too much to ship to customers. All three major carriers are changing their rates and services for 2018:
- UPS 2018 rates went into effect December 24, 2017
- FedEx 2018 rates went into effect January 1, 2018
- USPS 2018 rates go into effect January 21, 2018
We at Endicia make it a priority to educate you about these changes and how they’ll affect your business, which is why we’ve created the 2018 shipping rate comparison chart below. We hope this carrier comparison will help you make the best choice for your shipping needs. While rates have increased across the board with all three carriers, USPS is still the most cost-effective choice in most cases when shipping lighter-weight items.
One thing we want to make sure you know about this year is that UPS has changed its dimensional (DIM) weight divisor from 166 to 139 for all domestic services subject to Daily Rates or Alaska and Hawaii rates for packages measuring less than one cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches). What does this mean for you? Businesses shipping lighter packages with UPS will pay more.
