We’re shining this week’s small business spotlight on Posh Peyton, a successful online business that sells fun, eclectic and fashionable children’s clothing that can be worn straight from the runway to the playground.
We chatted with owner Tiffany Sartor about how she has achieved success selling in the online fashion industry.
Endicia: If you had to pick one thing that is the secret to your success as an online business, what would it be?
Tiffany: The one thing that has been the most substantial in contributing to our success as an online business has been our branding and media content. We’ve worked really hard to establish ourselves in a way that reminds customers that we’re not just another newcomer to the children’s retail space, but a lifestyle brand bringing an array of fresh and modern content to the kids’ fashion world. In everything from photography to marketing, we’ve been extremely intentional about putting out content that’s synonymous with our brand — modern and fun. Our Halloween campaign below was a shining example of that.
Endicia: What is one important lesson you’ve learned as a business owner?
Tiffany: The biggest lesson that I’ve learned since being an entrepreneur and starting my own business is to be consistent. Though we’ve had some amazing times, like when we’re hitting our sales goals out of the park, we’ve also experienced some setbacks. Amidst it all, we’ve continued to be constant no matter what! Consistency has opened a lot of doors for us and introduced us to a ton of amazing opportunities, ultimately because we’ve stayed focused on the end goal and the overall bigger picture.
Endicia: What is the best thing about owning your own ecommerce business? What is the most difficult thing?
Tiffany: The best thing about owning my own ecommerce business is the ability to reach and connect with millions upon millions of people all over the world. The most difficult thing is the number of hidden factors that affect having a successful online business in the ecommerce world that you don’t know about at the start.
Endicia: Do you have any tips or tricks for other budding business owners?
Tiffany: I would advise any budding business owners to stay focused and not let fear deter them from following their dreams. Know that you are your only competition. If you wake up every day attempting to be the best that you can be while striving to be better than the day before, success will surely find you.
