Endicia Donates $2,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank to help Fight Hunger

Endicia shipping software is excited to announce a $2,000 donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley. The funds will be used to help Second Harvest programs targeting hungry children and seniors in the community. Endicia will continue to donate $1,000 each week throughout the coronavirus pandemic period.

According to Second Harvest, residents who are at or on the brink of poverty are disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 public health crisis. Working families who rely on hourly wages are having their shifts at work cut or their take-home pay reduced. Youth who normally rely on free or reduced-rate meals provided through their school system are out of school and facing food insecurity.

1 In 4 People In Silicon Valley Are At Risk of Hunger

Second Harvest Food Bank has recently seen a huge increase in inquiries to their Food Connection hotline, with calls quintupling in the last week, from a baseline of about 200 calls/day to 1,000 calls/day. The agency is expecting this rate of growth to continue in the coming weeks and months as more hourly and low-wage workers are impacted by business closures.

Along with contributing to the Second Harvest Food Bank, Endicia is our encouraging and facilitating employee donations to ensure anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one. All employee donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank will be matched by the company on a dollar-per-dollar basis.

For Every $1 Donated, Second Harvest Food Bank Can Provide Enough Food For Two Meals.

About Second Harvest Food Bank

Based in Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is one of the largest food banks in the nation. Currently providing food to an average of 260,000 people every month, Second Harvest is a trusted community-based organization that was founded in 1974. Despite the immense wealth in Silicon Valley, and partly due to the high cost of living, hunger and malnutrition are pervasive. The Food Bank distributes nutritious food, including more fresh produce than almost any other food bank in the country, through a network of 309 nonprofit partners at 985 sites. Second Harvest is pursuing innovative efforts to increase access to food resources as it seeks to feed more hungry people each month. To reach more people, it advocates for anti-hunger policies and connects those in need of federal nutrition programs and other food resources.
